How does your exhaust work?

In its basic form, your vehicle’s exhaust system ensures that dangerous emissions don’t enter your cabin, helps your engine to run smoothly, gives you maximum fuel efficiency and cuts pollution in the environment.

In addition, your exhaust system also works to reduce the noise of your engine and the amount of heat generated as it runs…and will all these functions, it’s easy to see why it’s an important part of your vehicle!

There are a number of reasons why you should have your vehicle’s exhaust checked, repaired or replaced by our expert team, but the main one is to keep you safe from the range of dangerous emissions your vehicle produces, such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide phosphorus and lead.

If you experience any of the following from your car, truck, motorbike or boat, then you should immediately book an appointment with us to avoid extra potential damage:

Loud noises from your catalytic converter.
Often described as coins rattling in a tin, any unusual noise from your engine while idling should be investigated.

A decrease in fuel efficiency.

If you’re constantly at the service station filling up, then you could have a problem. A leaky exhaust will put more pressure on your engine and makes it work harder, which means you’ll use more fuel.

Sudden vibrations.
If you feel your steering wheel, pedals or seat start to vibrate, this could indicate a problem with your exhaust, namely that there is a leak or crack. Also check for fluid puddles under your vehicle.

Loads of noise!
If your vehicle suddenly sounds like it’s about to start a drag race, then it’s time to get us to look at it. Not only does a noisy exhaust indicate a serious problem, but noise pollution regulations mean you could get into legal trouble if it’s left unchecked.

If you’re not sure that a vehicle problem is caused by your exhaust system, just drop by our workshop on High Street, Melton, and ask us to complete a free, no obligation check.

“Thank you so much to Daniel and his partner for all the exhaust issues they have fixed on our car. They were quick and reasonably priced. We should have listened to Daniel and his team to begin with, they were spot on with diagnosis and our car has never driven better. Thanks again guys.” Stacey, Melton.
